This one’s about how weird nations are - a way of organising societies on the basis of where people happen to be born, that is rooted in our collective imagination. Its also about a sense of uneasiness and questioning what you know. What would happen if everyone stopped thinking about themselves as whatever nationality? Can we imagine ourselves differently? If we destabilised the idea of nations would it take the wind out the sails of the rising nationalist sentiment that’s fuelling the far right?

The spoken lyrics reference an art project I do sometimes, where people are invited to cut up flags and stitch them into new forms. This project is how I started thinking more about the idea of cutting and stitching, which is now the album name.
