I have a lot of arguments with men that seem to be purely motivated to “win” the conversation (what they perceive as an argument) rather than reach any sort of consensus or listen to different experiences and opinions. They treat me like I’m naive for having any hope for the future or drive to try and make change.
This song follows on from the sentiment of our last EP, ‘The Future is Dark.’ Political or historical change is a slow, complicated process thats often only partly visible with hindsight. Making change is a constant collective process that never stops. Its probably impossible for us to see our place within it or to know what consequences our actions will have. I find this hopeful, grounding and motivating.
lyrics
I’d rather be naive
Than a nihilist
You choose your chair
I choose to fight this
I’d rather be naive
Than a hopeless cynic
You argue for your ego
Not to be constructive
Can you see the future?
Is it crystal clear?
How in this short life
did you find all the answers?
Can you see the future?
Is it crystal clear?
How in this short life
did you find so many answers
I choose to fight
I won’t give up on life
I’d rather be naive
And learn to fall with grace
Not tense brittle with fear
Open eyes face my mistakes
I’d rather be naive
Dare to care and to create
Moved by each encounter
Contaminate
Collaborate
Oh you know how its all going to pan out
Don’t you?
I choose to fight
You cannot bleed our sense of possibility
In the darkness we see constellations
We will not be silenced
We are imperfect
Entangled
Looming
We’re not finished
We never fucking will be
Exceptional punk music! I love sloppy punk, but this manages to be clean without without losing any energy at all (maybe even getting more of it in the process!). Can't recommend it enough and show them to everyone I know zacharypinkham
